Product Description
Stunning deep red-purple flowers in compressed spherical shaped umbels bloom in late spring and early summer, Allium Atropurpureum are a striking feature for the garden. The strap shaped leaves taper at the tip and will wither before the flowers appear in early summer so we recommend accompanying them with low-growing plants to provide filling foliage over the base areas. Try planting behind Japanese Anemones which will flower later in the season and cover any untidy dead foliage when the alliums season is over. Preferring areas of direct or partial sunlight, these Allium are perfect for borders in the garden, patio pots and also as part of a cut flower display for within the home. Reaching a height of 60cm. 7-8cm bulbs supplied.

Growing at a glance…
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil at approx 10cm apart and at a depth of roughly 3-4 times the size of the bulb. Larger bulbs should be spaced 20cm apart. Leave untouched for a number of years until the bulbs have multiplied and divide if necessary. Smaller alliums can be grown in containers, but ensure it's large enough to space the bulbs an appropriate distance apart.
