Product Description

This is one of the best offspring of Cox's Orange Pippin with a very fine flavour close to the Cox. The soft juicy flesh can sometimes develop an unique aniseed flavour, although this is very subtle when the apple is eaten ripe straight from the tree in September-November. Unlike its parent, Ellison's Orange has good disease resistance and is partially self-fertile. This reliable variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, and deservedly so. It will grow up to 3m but can be pruned annually to keep at a more manageable height, or for a slightly less vigorous bush can be grown in a large container, perfect for the patio. We supply hardy two year old trees grafted onto dwarf root stock.

Order any two or more large fruit trees for only £13.99 each saving £2 per tree.

Growing at a glance…

Young trees must be watered thoroughly and sprinkle with fertilizer each spring. You can also mulch in April with rotted manure or compost around the base of the trunk. They should be planted in well sheltered locations. They will blossom and flower in Spring and fruit is normally ready to be picked throughout Autumn.Apple trees are suitable for planting in most types of moderately fertile, well drained soil, although they do not like acid soil. If possible prepare the ground some time in advance of planting. Open out holes and plant with enough space toaccommodate the roots without cramping them. Plant in a sunny location as they do not prosper too well in the shade. Make sure that you plant with a stake, as this will be needed for at least five years to help support the tree. Begin weed controlprior to planting and keep a clean ring around the plant (with a radius of approx 24inches
