Product Description

Clematis 'Piilu' is an amazing cultivar which produces two different kinds of flowers in two different seasons, making this stunning flower a wonderful addition to any garden. In spring, this colourful variety produces huge double flowers, with deeper outer petals and ruffled inner petals in a light pink. From summer, 'Piilu' then adds to the profusion of flowers a second time but with single flowers. Each petal is a lighter pink with a darker centre and contrasting pale yellow anthers that stand out against the dense green deciduous foliage. These vigorous showy plants are extremely hardy and are the perfect choice for adding a splash of cheerful colour to patio containers that will flourish with the assistance of a support. They can also brighten up a garden wall as they are magnificent climbers. Sure to create a breath-taking display wherever planted, they will reach an eventual height 3m unless pruned back. 9cm pot plants supplied.

Growing at a glance…

Clematis are vigorous climbing plants that reach various heights and spreads. Its best to prune back to keep control over the growth annually and initially they should be tied in to help direct the new growth. Apply a liquid fertiliser each year\during the growing season, and water regularly during hot periods.Clematis can be planted October-May in areas with good drainage and plenty of sun is preferable. Soak in a bucket of water prior to planting and plant deep enough to allow plenty of room for root development. The roots of clematis like to be kept\cool so it is a good idea to plant amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If planting in containers, ensure the pot is large enough to allow the roots to expand/develop, as limitation of roots will certainly impede future success.
