Tulip Blue Parrot
Tulipa Blue Parrot
OUT OF STOCK
This showy cultivar displays artistically formed heads with intricate feathered edges, which open out as the plant matures. Petals are a violet-purple shade which curve gently this way and that. Each flower head sits on a mid-green sturdy stem, surrounded by lance-shaped foliage. Blue Parrot not only looks good in pots or the border, but is perfect for cut flower displays. How about mixing with other kinds of tulip in shades of blue, purple, white and lilac/lavender for an unusual cool coloured display? Don't forget that tulips like to be planted late in October and November with the colder weather (it helps wipe out disease, too.) Plant bulbs pointy side up, 15cm deep and water well. 11/12cm bulbs supplied. Flowers April to May. Height 60cm.

Plant bulbs in well dug soil about 8-10cm deep and approx 15cm apart. It is often beneficial to use a little bonemeal or super phosphate mixed in with the soil. Tulips delight during their growth in a sunny location.
After the tulips have bloomed and when leaves fade and turn brown the bulbs can be lifted, dried, cleaned and stored in a cool place until planting time. Tulips should not be grown in the same soil for several years, so replace with fresh soil every other year.
