Shirley's Dream begins its life ivory-cream, blending to lilac in places, with violet purple edges which intensify and spread as the plant matures. A truly unique display can be created with Shirley's Dream, as the variety will provide a range of ivory, lilac and violet blooms all at different stages of blending - no two tulips will look the same! Each stunning cup-shaped bloom stands on a yellow-green stem with broad lance-shaped leaves which complement the colour scheme perfectly. We recommend planting Shirley's Dream in a wooden pot on the patio to emanate a quaint cottage garden feel. We also recommend planting a few more tulips than you need, as you won't be able to resist bringing Shirley's Dream indoors for unusual tri-blended cut flower displays. Don't forget that tulips like to be planted late in October and November with the colder weather (it helps wipe out disease, too.) Plant bulbs pointy side up, 15cm deep and water well. Top quality 11/12cm bulbs supplied. Flowers April to May. Height 50cm.

Soil Type

Well drained garden soil

Plant bulbs in well dug soil about 8-10cm deep and approx 10-15cm apart. It is often beneficial to use a little bonemeal or super phosphate mixed in with the soil. Tulips delight during their growth in a sunny location.
After the tulips have bloomed and when leaves fade and turn brown the bulbs can be lifted, dried, cleaned and stored in a cool place until planting time. Tulips should not be grown in the same soil for several years, so replace with fresh soil every other year.
