Product Description
A burst of crimson and yellow ignites from the heart of Dahlia 'Striped Vulcan', making it impossible to ignore. Its large, double blooms emerge from dark green, serrated foliage on upright clumps reaching 1 to 1.5 metres, offering striking structure and vibrant drama from midsummer through the first autumn frosts. The contrast of fiery petals against lush leaves creates a bold, sculptural presence in any border or mixed perennial bed.
Thriving in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, 'Striped Vulcan' adapts to clay, loam, or sandy soils across a broad pH range. Its tall stems support the large blooms even in sheltered windy spots, ensuring the flowers’ dramatic striped pattern remains vivid and undisturbed throughout the flowering season.
Perfect with Salvia, Echinacea, or the delicate movement of Miscanthus grasses, this Dahlia complements textured borders and cutting gardens alike. The combination of bold colour, extended midsummer to autumn flowering, and architectural foliage makes it a dynamic partner in perennial mixes and a lasting focal point in garden designs.

Growing at a glance…
Dahlia tubers can be planted outdoors, 10cm deep in fertile well-drained soil in spring when the frost has disappeared. They prefer to be in a sunny location and spaced at approximately 45cm apart. In areas where there is extreme cold, dig up dahlias and store in potting compost over the winter. Apply a high potash fertiliser every few weeks in the summer to help growth. Dead head when necessary.
