Product Description
Otherwise known as the Dragon Lily, Dragon Arum or Snake Lily, this breath-taking plant is native to the Balkans. In Greece it is referred to as Drakondia, where the long spadix is viewed as a little dragon hiding in the spathes. An abundance of handsome finger-like leaves with narrow lobes are sometimes spotted silver - which just adds to the overall tropical feel of this plant. Despite its appearance, Dracunculus Vulgaris doesn't mind half sun and is very cold hardy. For two to three days during flowering, the Dragon Lily is said to produce a foul odour which is often compared to a very strong seashell smell. However, many of our customers feel this is a minor drawback when gazing upon this truly unique oddity of nature. We'd recommend companion plants, but we're afraid the Dracunculus is a one-of-a-kind showstopper. Top quality bulbs supplied. Flowers May to June. Height 90cm. Large 20/25cm bulbs supplied

For best results, plant in an area of the garden that reaches plenty of sunlight. Can withstand partial shade, but prefers the sun. Plant tubers 15cm deep in soil in spring or autumn, ensuring the soil is well-drained and moist. Ensure the soil doesn't dry out in the summer. Grow in either beds or containers with appropriate drainage.
