Product Description

Often referred to as the Peruvian Daffodil, the Ismene Sulphur Queen produces showy white umbels with lacy edges, that blend into yellow with striped green throats. Strappy tepals frame each flower, bringing even more attention to this showy perennial. The Ismene Sulphur Queen smells not at all like Sulphur, but like Lily of the Valley with lemon overtones - a zesty and popular fragrance that makes this flower perfect for indoor displays. It boasts sturdystems. Plant in groups in your sunny or half-shade border for a recurring show year after year, or perhaps try placing in a pot next to the similarly spectacular Bird of Paradise - its orange tones will complement Sulphur Queen remarkably well. Top quality 14cm+ bulbs supplied. Flowers June to August. Height 60cm.

Growing at a glance…

After planting your Ismene bulbs, begin to water regularly and growth should begin to appear within a number of weeks. In late autumn, you can lift bulbs and dry them off, then store over the winter in a cool, dry area for next year. Plant in a cool greenhouse or outdoors but only in a sheltered location. If starting in pots, use a light compost and water freely during the growing season. If planting outdoors, plant each bulb at approx 10cm deep and at least 30cm apart, infertile, well-drained soil.
