A spectacular perennial with luxurious and almost black foliage that compliments the vibrant red flowers nicely. The scarlet blooms on this Cardinal Flower bring a welcome splash of late summer colour, when many flowers have already faded. It isexcellent when used en masse in borders or patio pots and containers. It is attractive to butterflies and received a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (1993). Height 90cm, spread 30cm. Flowers August-October. 9cm pot grown plantssupplied.

Growing at a glance…
Plant in deep and fertile soil in a sunny or partially shaded area in the garden. Divide large clumps of the plant every second year in the spring. Cover in winter with thick and dry mulch to protect the root system.
