Gorgeous small golden leafed tree. In summer the leaves are at their best, a striking bright yellow with upright clusters of crimson flowers darting through the canopy. A slow growing tree, after 10 years it will only reach about 1.5m. Japanese Maples are a must have ornamental garden plant, synonymous with the highly artistic oriental gardens cultivated in Japan, these are ideal for patio containers or in the border as their roots are compact and non- invasive. Aureum has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit which for its reliable performance, stability of colour and form, and good resistance to pests and diseases. 14cm pot plants supplied.

Plant in fertile, well drained and moist soil. Acer shrubs prefer sunny or partial shaded areas, and can also be grown in pots. If growing in pots make sure that the pot is large enough to support the shrub and that it also has plenty of drainage holes. Use John Innes compost if planting in pots.
Acers should be watered on a regular basis, which will be even more important in hot Summers. Although its not necessary, you can prune back or cut dead wood in Spring.
