Product Description
Sango-kaku won the RHS Award of Garden Merit back in 1993 and for good reason. Its feathered, lobed leaves are yellow-orange in spring, turning lush green in the summer then soft yellow in the autumn. The name Sango-kaku originates from ancient Japan ese and means coral tower, named after the colour of the young coral red branches which emerge in winter and create a striking bare display. Try it next to a path, or in front of a window, where the autumn and winter colour can be fully appreciated , or as part of a winter border. Sango-kaku can grow up to 5m in 10 years, with a spread of 3m. 2 litre pots supplied.

Growing at a glance…
Acers should be watered on a regular basis, which will be even more important in hot Summers. Although its not necessary, you can prune back or cut dead wood in Spring. Plant in fertile, well drained and moist soil. Acer shrubs prefer sunny or partial shaded areas, and can also be grown in pots. If growing in pots make sure that the pot is large enough to support the shrub and that it also has plenty of drainage holes. Use John Innes compost if planting in pots.
