Product Description

This is the best of the late season apple harvest. 'Laxton's Superb' is a classic English favourite with lovely pale green shaded red fruit and sweet firm flesh. Partially self-fertile it's a good pollinator and yields a heavy crop when established. Will tolerate a cooler temperature and is frost resistant, may need some care for disease prevention but worth it for the abundant crop in a good year, the fruit is excellent for storing until January. Easy to grow, this traditional tree will reach a mature height of three metres although can be pruned to a more desirable height if need be. It will also produce wonderful white flowers from April to May that will attract butterflies and other pollinators into the spring garden. The fruit can be eaten fresh or cooked to be made into desserts or pureed for sauces. Hardy two-year-old trees grafted onto dwarf root stock supplied.

Order any two or more large fruit trees for only £13.99 each saving £2 per tree.

Growing at a glance…

Young trees must be watered thoroughly and sprinkle with fertilizer each spring. You can also mulch in April with rotted manure or compost around the base of the trunk. They should be planted in well sheltered locations. They will blossom and flower in Spring and fruit is normally ready to be picked throughout Autumn.Apple trees are suitable for planting in most types of moderately fertile, well drained soil, although they do not like acid soil. If possible prepare the ground some time in advance of planting. Open out holes and plant with enough space toaccommodate the roots without cramping them. Plant in a sunny location as they do not prosper too well in the shade. Make sure that you plant with a stake, as this will be needed for at least five years to help support the tree. Begin weed control to planting and keep a clean ring around the plant (with a radius of approx 24inches).
