Product Description

Commonly known as Berberis thunbergii Atropurpurea, Berberis hedging (purple) is a striking deciduous dwarf shrub with a compact and bushy habit, typically used as a hedging plant. Growing to a maximum height of 150cm, the spiny stems of the Barberry bear dramatic purplish-red, ovate leaves, which become brighter and more vibrant in autumn. During the spring months, this attractive hedging shrub will also yield clusters of attractive pale yellow blossom followed by deep red berries, guaranteed to attract a multitude of hungry birds to the garden. This versatile and hardy shrub is fantastically low maintenance and useful for giving vertical interest in a well-drained, sunny or partly shady border. Loose roots supplied.
