Product Description

Camassia leichtlinii ‘Aurora’ brings elegant vertical movement and soft pastel colour to late-spring planting, lifting the eye with tall spires of star-shaped blooms in delicate mauve-pink tones. This stately spring-flowering bulb produces upright flower spikes with a fresh green eye to each bloom, fading gently as the display matures. Rising above narrow, strap-like foliage, it creates a structured yet natural rhythm through late spring into early summer.

This clump-forming perennial typically grows to around 90 cm in height with a spread of approximately 10 cm, forming vertical accents rather than bulk as it establishes over time. It performs best in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil that remains reliably moist in growth, thriving in full sun or light shade where its subtle colouring stands out against fresh green planting.

This Camassia’s tall flower spikes combine particularly well with Salvia, Allium, Geranium and Iris, where contrasting forms and textures extend seasonal interest and help weave its soft colouring into both formal and naturalistic planting.

Growing at a glance…

Camassia bulbs should be planted at least 10cm deep in fertile, well-drained, humus rich soil. Once planted, the bulbs can be left undisturbed for a couple of years to naturalise. Ensure there is good drainage in the soil and avoid the area becoming water-logged by over watering throughout the season. In areas of extreme cold in winter, it is always a good idea to apply some mulch as protection, like bark or a couple of cm of soil.
