Product Description

Clematis Montana Mayleen is a vigorous, dense climber and produces a mass of huge, single, strikingly light pink flowers against a backdrop of stunning bronze foliage. They are up to 7cm across with a central spray of lemon yellow stamens from late spring to early summer. Sometimes there is an occasional second flowering season later in the year. Use as a colourful alternative to hedging, or use to cover up an unsightly wall or fence. Ideally planted somewhere where its vanilla scent can be appreciated; it is happiest grown in part shade in a moist well drained neutral or chalky soil. Awarded garden merit by the RHS in 2002. Supplied in 9cm pots.

Growing at a glance…

Clematis are vigorous climbing plants that reach various heights and spreads. Its best to prune back to keep control over the growth annually and initially they should be tied in to help direduring the growing season, and water regularly during hot periods. On arrival, pot on the young Clematis in a 4-6 inch pot for four to six weeks to help establish a root system. Once established, plant out into the final location, preferably with good drainage and plenty of sun. Soak in a bucket of water prior to planting and plant deep enough to allow plenty of room for root development. The roots of clematis like to be kept cool so it is a good idea to plant amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If planting in containers, ensure the pot is large enough to allow the roots to expand/develop, as limitation of roots will certainly impede future success.
