Product Description

Princess Kate' is a beautiful Clematis variety that produces pretty white reflexed petals with an outer regal purple hue accompanied by dark purple centres. These eye-catching flowers look similar to Tulips when they first open where they stand on deep purple stems against dense deciduous green foliage, highlighting the pale flowers. A vigorous climber, these hardy plants flower from June through to September and will flourish in areas of the garden that are sunny or partially shaded. Reaching a height of up to 3m, they can be pruned to a more manageable height and planted within containers for the patio or decking for those with smaller gardens. For gardeners wanting to make more of a feature, they can be supported along trellises or walls where they will create a beautiful showy display. Tall 7cm pot plants supplied.

Growing at a glance…

Clematis are vigorous climbing plants that reach various heights and spreads. Its best to prune back to keep control over the growth annually and initially they should be tied in to help direct the new growth. Apply a liquid fertiliser each year during the growing season, and water regularly during hot periods.Clematis can be planted October-May in areas with good drainage and plenty of sun is preferable. Soak in a bucket of water prior to planting and plant deep enough to allow plenty of room for root development. The roots of clematis like to be kept cool so it is a good idea to plant amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If planting in containers, ensure the pot is large enough to allow the roots to expand/develop, as limitation of roots will certainly impede future success.
