Product Description
Native to western and Mediterranean regions, this exciting flower is a holder of the Award of Garden Merit. These fantastic thistle-like plants boast brilliant purple flower heads that span up to 8cm in diameter and are accompanied by lobed silver-green leaves. A hardy upright perennial, they are also a great choice for attracting bees into the garden where they can be planted in patio containers or the back of garden borders. Flowering from June to September, these unique flowers are edible and similar to an Artichoke in flavour. They can also be cut to make an intriguing flower arrangement. For the best results, we recommend planting in sunny locations in well-drained, fertile soil with protection from strong winds, where they will reach an eventual height of 1.5m. First grade loose roots supplied.
