Product Description

Sweet Sensation' is a remarkable Delphinium variety that produces dazzling mauve-purple and midnight blue petals, creating ruffled flowers. These wonderful flowers circulate around a sturdy green stem that is free-standing and reaches a height of up to 80-100cm. First created in Glasgow, they are capable of withstanding harsher weather conditions and will flourish in the garden border or patio containers in well-drained, fertile soil. Flowering from June through to August, they will also make magnificent cut-flower arrangements, beautiful in a vase. First grade loose roots supplied.

Planting Plant with soil firmly surrounding the roots.
Soil Type Fertile, well drained soil.

Growing at a glance…

Do not allow the ground to dry out in the summer and water regularly during the flowering period to help prolong their blooms. Delphiniums are able to tolerate most types of garden soil. Plant in prepared (well-drained) soil, in full sun or partial shade. Soak roots in a bucket of water for 1-2 hours before planting. Dig a hole in the border that’s big enough to house the root system. Plant in groups for a fuller display, usually in groups of 3, somewhere that gets plenty of sunlight. Ensure the crown is just below the soil unless the plant has some leaves, in which case leave them exposed with the rest of the root system under the soil. Water well once planted.
