Pack of 70

These full flowering semi-dwarf hybrids will bring a burst of energetic colour to your summer displays. An abundance of lavish, vibrantly coloured florets are produced - each one up to 10-12cm in diameter. On a background of avocado green sword- shaped leaves, these Gladioli are perfect for making a statement in the border - and liven up bouquets nicely. We always recommend planting more than liven up bouquets nicely. We always recommend planting more than you need, should you wish to take some away for bouquets or vase displays. Well-drained soil and a sunny location are ideal for growing Gladioli, although half shade is fine too. At Parkers we recommend planting Gladioli in groups at monthly intervals, starting early spring, to extend the flowering season for a showcase that lasts all summer long. Remember to plant in clumps for a natural cottage garden look. The collection is for 10 each of Flevo Cool (white and lavender), Flevo Flash (deep red), Flevo Sylvia (buttery cream with deep red throat), Flevo Gipsy (bright pink with white stripes), Flevo Laguna (green with purple edges), Flevo Ocean (purple-blue with white stripes) and Waris (deep grape/purple). Flowers June to September. Height 60cm. 8/10cm corms supplied.

Planting

Plant at approx 15cm deep and 15cm apart.

Plant gladioli corms about 10-15cm deep and about 10-15cm apart, in fertile/well drained soil in spring. Planting can be done in succession from early March onwards to the end of May at fortnightly intervals. This ensures a continuity of flowers throughout the summer months. When planting in a heavy soil, place some sand underneath each corm to help with drainage.
You can water regularly as the growth begins to appear and you can dead head when flowers begin to die off, though make sure to leave foliage to grow throughout the summer. In late autumn when frosty and cold nights are likely to return, you should lift and dry the corms and store over the winter in a frost free shed/garage until ready to plant again next year.
