Growing at a glance…
Before planting, ensure all threat of frost has passed, as frosty conditions might damage the plant. If you receive your bulbs before the optimum planting time, you can store them somewhere dry and frost-free until the following spring. Ensure the soil is well-drained and moist, and plant 10-15cm deep. Position the corms in areas of the garden that reach plenty of sunlight, whether that be a sunny border or in a container that can be moved around to reach the most light. Water when the soil feels dry and feed with a high postash fertliser every two to three weeks while in bloom. Once they have died back in autumn, lift them to store over winter. To do this, carefully dig the bulbs up, removing dirt and foliage, and store somewhere cool and dry - preferably in a paper or mesh bag.
