Miribilis jalapa is often known as many things, including the 'Marvel of Peru' and the 'Four O'Clock Flower'. Native to tropical america, this shrub-like bloom produces beautiful small and trumpet shaped pink flowers that open in the afternoon (hence the name Four O'Clock Flower). Attracting wildlife like butterflies and hummingbirds, this plant is truly a sight to behold throughout summer. Growing at a glance…
Water regularly during the growing season, and deadhead to prolong flowering. Provide some winter protection from frosts by placing mulch like bark on top of the soil, or lift before winter and store in a cool, dry place like a garage or shed. Plant in any fertile, well drained soil in a sunny location, approx 10cm deep and 10cm apart.
