Tulip Orange Emperor
Tulipa

OUT OF STOCK
The Orange Emperor appears 3-4 weeks earlier than the rest, showcasing a welcome sight of huge silky petals in a brilliant tangerine orange which fade to amber. As the plant matures, these petals open out to reveal yellow centres with contrasting plum purple anthers. The perfectly formed cup-shaped blooms are complemented with sword-shaped foliage in a subdued green, making the orange flowerheads the star of the show. Why not plant with different colour Fosteriana tulips for a show stopping display of these giant varieties? You could choose Red Emperor and Yellow Emperor for a hot themed display. Don't forget that tulips like to be planted late in October and November with the colder weather (it helps wipe out disease, too.) Plant bulbs pointy side up, 15cm deep and water well. Top quality 11/12cm bulbs supplied. Flowers April. Height 40cm.

Soil Type
Well drained garden soil |
Plant bulbs in well dug soil about 8-10cm deep and approx 15cm apart. It is often beneficial to use a little bonemeal or super phosphate mixed in with the soil. Tulips delight during their growth in a sunny location.
After the tulips have bloomed and when leaves fade and turn brown the bulbs can be lifted, dried, cleaned and stored in a cool place until planting time. Tulips should not be grown in the same soil for several years, so replace with fresh soil every other year.
