Dianthus Barbatus / Sweet William

Here Jeff Turner shows us how to plant Sweet William maxi plugs in a large pot with Hyacinths.

These spectacular plants provide plenty of colourful flowers, perfect as an addition to the border, and excellent as cut flowers for an indoor vase display. They are highly fragrant and produce dense clusters of a wide range of flower colours from late February all the way through to summer. They are great for attracting birds, bees and butterfly’s as the bright mass of this plant’s flowers is very eye catching.

In our autumn catalogue, we provide plugs at a size that can be planted straight into containers in the garden as demonstrated by Jeff here or potted on for a short period before transplanting.

Winter Flowering Pansies

In this video, Jeff demonstrates how to plant universal Winter Flowering Pansy Maxi plugs in a pot above bulbs.

These pansies are perfect for a long lasting display from winter throughout spring, in containers, borders or window display. These plants will flower in winter and be at their best throughout the Spring for as long as early Summer for an enduring, impressive display of colour. They are incredibly tolerant of winter weather and will survive well in the cold, rain and wind. Their mass of quick growing bright coloured flowers will add interest to bare areas in winter.

You can find a great selection of winter pansies in our autumn catalogue, they are well worth investment.
