Product Description

Vitis 'Glenora' is a hardy, seedless and delicious variety that produces an abundance of succulent bluey-black, medium-sized grapes during the summer months. An excellent choice for those looking to grow their own fruit; they can be eaten fresh, used within cooking or are a favourite with amateur wine makers. This variety will thrive in warm greenhouses but if growing outside, we recommend planting in sunny, sheltered areas where their natural climbing habit will reach an eventual height of 2m. They can be grown within containers for smaller gardens or create a spectacular feature within garden borders. Once cropping has finished, the luscious foliage then develops to delightful autumnal colours creating continued interest to the garden display.

Growing at a glance…

Prune in grape plants winter to keep them at a manageable height and again in mid summer if necessary. They may require training as they grow, due to their climbing habit. The vitis (Grape) vines can be grown in well drained neutral or slightly alkali humus rich soil. They prefer to be located in a sunny position or in light shade. Seedless grapes are a natural mutation that prevents the young seeds from maturing and developing a hard coat. This is what is typically seen in supermarkets. However, even seedless varieties do sometimes produce small numbers of seeds, which allows new varieties to be crossbred.
