Product Description

Dwarf patio fruit trees are a great introduction to growing your own fruit and are really easy to succeed with. Red Spur grows only to a height of 2m tall. This variety will produce an impressive harvest of full-sized, sweetly flavoured fruits, similar in characteristics to those of the 'Red Delicious' family. Bred in the chilly climes of East Holland, the Red Spur is fully cold-hardy and has a columnar, upright habit making it the perfect feature plant for gardens or patios with limited space. This superb specimen is also self-fertile meaning that it can produce fruits all by itself - this really is the perfect choice for the British gardener regardless of space limitations or experience level. 1.5 Litre pot plants supplied.

Growing at a glance…

Young trees must be watered thoroughly and sprinkle with fertilizer each spring. You can also mulch in April with rotted manure or compost around the base of the trunk. They should be planted in well sheltered locations.Apple trees are suitable for planting in most types of moderately fertile, well drained soil, although they do not like acid soil. If possible prepare the ground some time in advance of planting. Open out holes and plant with enough space toaccommodate the roots without cramping them. Plant in a sunny location as they do not prosper too well in the shade. Begin weed control prior to planting and keep a clean ring around the plant (with a radius of approx 24inches). The midget varietyare ideal for containers, perfect for patio fruit.
