Product Description

Floribunda roses don't come much hardier than the elegant yet robust Rose Lili Marlene. This resilient variety boasts an impressive tolerance to the effects of rain and hot sun, producing black buds which open into semi-double flowers of vivid crimso surrounded by healthy, lustrous foliage. The blooms are mildly scented and appear in abundance between June and September for months of enjoyment. We supply only top quality rose bushes, bare rooted and wrapped to prevent the roots drying out which are then pruned back and ready to be planted on arrival. A firm favourite of British florists as well as gardeners, this stunning scarlet rose also makes a striking cut flower which can be enjoyed as an addition to the bouquet or vase. We recommend that, instead of deadheading in late winter or early spring, simply cut the stems in bud and admire the blooms indoors instead. 2 year old bare rooted plants supplied. Please note: Fragrant rose's perfume is usually the most potent on warm, sunny days, while sat in moist soil. Its important to imitate these conditions, as it will release the fragrant chemicals within the flowers. High humidity increases the longevity of the fragrance as it reduces the chance of the chemicals evaporating.

Planting Notes

Planting Plant in a hole large enough to take the roots when fully outspread.
Soil Type Fertile, humus rich and well drained soil

Growing at a glance…

Roses should be planted firmly, to ensure that wind will not disrupt the roots. Apply a balanced fertiliser every 3-4 weeks in the spring/summer, and apply a mulch in the winter for protection. Can be pruned back to remove any dead wood or growth. It is best to plant roses in winter or early spring, provided there is little frost. To prepare your bare rose roots, soak them in a bucket of water for an hour to 24 hours (longer in spring). Then, dig a hole large enough to house the roots when fully outspread. Distribute the roots evenly around the hole and put in a little bit of fine soil to which has been added a small amount of bonemeal. Fill in with the rest of the soil over the roots and tread in firmly. The depth of planting roses will vary between 10-20cm, or as deep as they were in their pots.
