Product Description

Tamarix Tetrandra (commonly known as the Tamarisk or Salt Cedar) is a beautiful small tree which produces magnificent, feathery plumes of pink flowers. In April and May its arching branches are smothered in masses of pink blossom, accompanied by needle-like foliage. Swaying gently in the breeze, this architectural low maintenance shrub makes a superb focal point in any garden. Tamarix Tetranda tolerates salt and strong winds, making it the perfect addition to coastal gardens. It has also been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance. We'd recommend planting Tamarix Tetrandra in a mixed border. You could create a natural woodland look with swathes of Crocus and Scillas nesting beneath the dappled shade of the pink plumes. Alternatively, you could plant Agapanthus Blue Peter in pots beneath the tree for an unusual, exotic look in contrasting colours. Eventual height 3m. 40-60cm loose plants supplied.

Growing at a glance…

Prune regularly to help keep at a size and shape that can be easily controlled. One of the most resilient shrubs in the UK garden.Tamarisk can be planted into most types of well drained, relatively fertile soil.It is tolerant of most soils which includes poor soils and saline soils, but dislikes shallow chalk and heavy clay. They prefer to be planted in a sunny position as full sun is needed in order to flower correctly. Avoid planting near a house, terrace or living space as the flowers tend to fall and spread everywhere.
