Large swathes of Scilla siberica (Siberian squill) are a common sight in the early spring. These brilliant blue and white flowers are very easy to grow and squirrel proof. Wiry stems are topped with up to five nodding, bell-shaped flowers in March an d April. Accompanied by slender, strap-shaped, glossy, mid-green leaves, Siberian squill are perfect for naturalising in areas of semi-shade underneath deciduous shrubs. To achieve a natural looking display, throw handfuls of bulbs over the ground, p lanting them where they fall. How about creating an idyllic early spring scene, with a bold swathe of Scilla siberica in the border dotted with clumps of minature Daffodils? Give it a try! 50 each of Scilla siberica (blue) and Scilla siberica Alba (w hite). Height 10cm. 6/7cm bulbs supplied.
