When to plant tulip bulbs
Tulip bulbs can be planted at any time from early to late autumn. You can even give them a run for their money by planting them up to January if you forget to get them out on time. In fact, the later you plant them, the less likely they are to develop tulip fire. Learn more about how to plant your new tulips with our handy tulip growing guide.
How to plant daffodil bulbs
There are many methods of planting daffodil bulbs in your spring displays, depending on where you plant them. For example, the method you use for planting in borders will differ slightly from planting in grass. By a rule of thumb, daffodil bulbs should be planted at least 3 times the bulb’s depth and width apart. Learn how to plant your new daffodils in our daffodil growing guide.
Do allium bulbs multiply?
Alliums, just like some tulips and daffodils, can multiply while in the ground. This is called ‘naturalising’. A convenient habit in truth, as it can double or even triple your display year after year. But if it becomes a bit too crowded, then you may need to divide them to keep your best bulbs thriving. Learn all about dividing and propagating alliums in our handy allium growing guide.
