Product Description

What a beautiful way to cover a fence, railing or empty wall space - Clematis montana Rubens make a colourful alternative to the usual hedging plants. They produce a dazzling show of huge, fragrant single rose-pink flowers up to 7cm across with a central spray of lemon yellow stamens from late spring to early summer. The flowers give off a fragrance that fills the air when you pass. They thrive in moist, well-drained soils, in full sun or part shade. They are often ignored by pests. 30-40cm plants supplied in a 9cm pot.

Growing at a glance…

Clematis are vigorous climbing plants that reach various heights and spreads. Its best to prune back to keep control over the growth annually and initially they should be tied in to help direct the new growth. Apply a liquid fertiliser each yearduring the growing season, and water regularly during hot periods.Clematis can be planted October-May in areas with good drainage and plenty of sun is preferable. Soak in a bucket of water prior to planting and plant deep enough to allow plenty of room for root development. The roots of clematis like to be keptcool so it is a good idea to plant amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If planting in containers, ensure the pot is large enough to allow the roots to expand/develop, as limitation of roots will certainly impede future success.
