Monarda, commonly known as Bee balm or Bergamot, produce bold spicy scented flowers from June through to September. Historically they have been used in various forms for their fragranceand even as spices for food! Much loved by bees and other nectar loving insects they bring a lovely splash of colour into any garden display as well as their unusual distinctive perfumes. Thisvariety flowers a bold shade of red and looks particularly lovely in a border or pots on your patio and they will happily grow in shade or semi shaded areas where other plants might struggle. Theyalso make extraordinary cut-flower arrangements for within the home and can be planted alongside contrasting colours of Monarda to create a feature within the garden. Suitable for a mixed or herbaceous border. Best grown in a location where the soil does not dry out too much in summer.Protect from excessive winter wet. Ensure soil is kept moist in summer.
