Glorious sunny yellow funnel-shaped flowers blend into green at the floral chamber and curve down into a succulent tube-like stem. A matching yellow spadix sits inside the enveloping spathes. Speckled and broad wavy foliage forms a spring green clump, which contrasts well with these radiant flowers. It may come as no surprise that this exotic lily originates from the hot and humid climates of South Africa found by lakes in moist soils. The Calla Lily prefers well-drained soil in a full or half sun location. Calla Lilies are dramatic additions to outdoor gardens with their distinctive blossoms, but also make excellent cut flowers. We recommend accompanying them with low-growing plants to provide filling foliage over the base areas and covering up those stems. Anything that provides fullness and has a shallow root system serves best as a Calla companion, such as New Guinea Impatiens, Astilbes or Hydrangeas. Exhibition quality 16cm+ tubers supplied. Flowers May to October. Height 40cm.
