This beautiful, small growing Acer has been chosen for the exquisite colour and shape of its foliage. The red-purple leaves turn a vibrant red in autumn and are certain to catch the eye. Ultimate height is 1.8-2m after 10 years and will grow in the beautiful dome shape characteristic of all Japanese Maples. Synonymous with the highly artistic oriental garden cultivated in Japan, these are ideal for patio containers or in the border as their roots are compact and non- invasive. Will perform best in partial shade but can tolerate full sun, needing extra moisture in summer if in a very dry location. When the leaves fall they will expose an intricate well branched tree. Can be lightly pruned to expose the graceful shaping of the larger branches if you wish but it's really only necessary to remove any dead branches and let nature take its course. 3 shoot 40cm+ bare rooted plants supplied.

Plant in fertile, well drained and moist soil. Acer shrubs prefer sunny or partial shaded areas, and can also be grown in pots. If growing in pots make sure that the pot is large enough to support the shrub and that it also has plenty of drainage h oles. Use John Innes compost if planting in pots.
Acers should be watered on a regular basis, which will be even more important in hot Summers. Although its not necessary, you can prune back or cut dead wood in Spring.
