Product Description

Allium moly, the cheerful Golden Garlic, lights up late spring borders with clusters of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers atop fine green stems. Rising to around 30 cm, the blooms open in June above neat clumps of narrow, grey-green basal leaves, and this vigorous bulbous perennial naturalises gracefully over time, while adding a vibrant pop of colour.

The vivid yellow blooms of Allium moly are excellent for cutting and look equally charming in borders, drifts or containers. Their radiant tone contrasts beautifully with deeper violet and indigo flowers, bringing lively seasonal energy without overwhelming smaller spaces.

For harmonious combinations, you can plant alongside cool blues and purples such as Muscari or Salvia, or mix with soft foliage plants like Artemisia for contrast and texture. These pairings help accentuate the bright blooms while extending interest and visual flow in mixed displays.

Growing at a glance…

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil at approx 10cm apart and at a depth of roughly 3-4 times the size of the bulb. Larger bulbs should be spaced 20cm apart. Leave untouched for a number of years until the bulbs have multiplied and divide if necessary. Smaller alliums can be grown in containers, but ensure it's large enough to space the bulbs an appropriate distance apart.
