Camassia, also known as Camas, provide striking blooms in the late spring garden, at a similar time to alliums, perfectly bridging the gap between spring flowering bulbs and early summer perennials such as aquilegia and peonies. They are primarily seen to produce spikes of vivid blue flowers, but we also have varieties in our collection which offer white, yellow and a beautiful pale blue.

We offer a range of popular Camassia varieties, ranging from the shorter Camassia Esculenta (which grows to around 40cm tall) to the much larger Camassia Cusickii (stands approximately 100cm in height). 

Whilst they can be grown in pots, we would always recommend growing Camassia bulbs as part of a border display, as part of a floral meadow, or within a larger raised bed. Camassia naturalise prolifically, and seeing them en masse is a striking feature in the garden. They also make our list of plants for clay soil, due to them hailing from the damp meadows and woodlands of the Pacific Northwest - a perfect option for areas where most plants struggle to thrive.
