Product Description

Aloe Vera is a well-known plant that's native to areas like Africa and Mexico. However, in the UK, they're better off as house plants as it's far too cold outside for them to grow. Their spiked leaves not only look the part, but the inside is full of gel that soothes and aids burns. (This gel needs to be treated before it’s suitable for using on skin or digestion). They love a mild temperature, and prefer to be kept in bright rooms, out of direct sunlight. There's no need to over-water these plants, only needing to do so when their soil feels dry - and need much less water in winter.

All plants will be delivered in nursery pots, decorative pots not included.

*We may delay the dispatch of your houseplants during severe cold weather.

Growing at a glance…

They don't need loads of water and are quite drought-tolerant. But it's recommended to do so when the soil feels dry to the touch. Position somewhere bright, but not in direct sunlight. Fertilise in spring and summer once a month in the active growth season. These plants produce offsets or ‘babies’, which can be propagated by carefully removing the substrate and potting it up in a sandy soil mix. Repot this plant every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root bound. Pick a pot that is roughly 2-3 inches bigger than its current one. They can be fed with a succulent and cacti fertiliser in spring and summer if you prefer, once a month in the active growth season. However, with any fertiliser, we recommend following their guidelines on usage.
