Product Description

Anemone rivularis ‘Glacier’ brings a cool, ethereal touch to shaded borders and woodland gardens. Flowering in early to mid-summer, it produces delicate white blooms with indigo centres and a soft blue underside. Slender stems reach 40-50 cm, adding refined texture and seasonal interest.

Forming neat clumps that spread slowly, ‘Glacier’ provides early-season nectar for bees and hoverflies. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and partial shade, making it ideal for naturalistic drifts, containers or woodland edges.

For a thoughtfully layered display, pair it with shade-loving Ferns, Hellebores, or soft ornamental grasses that echo its cool palette and extend the garden’s seasonal interest. ‘Glacier’ establishes reliably and returns year after year with minimal care.

Growing at a glance…

Anemones supplied as loose roots prefer well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight. On arrival, these loose-roots are quite stick-like - but fear not, because beautiful blooms will soon appear from them! They're at their best when grown in borders or containers. Soak roots in a bucket of water for 2-3 hours before planting. Dig a hole in the border that’s big enough to house the root system, and lay them flat. Ensure they are roughly 2cm deep, and spaced 8cm apart. Don't worry which way they're facing, as the leaves will find the surface! Firm in gently and water well.
