Product Description

Bursting with vibrant double blooms from mid‑summer until early November, Dahlia 'Double Jill' lights up the garden from July through to the first frosts. It is compact and bushy, reaching roughly 80-90 cm tall with a spread of about 50 cm - a perfect size for borders, patio containers or mixed beds. The flowers show a distinctive blend of yellow and white (sometimes with soft blush tones) - each bloom subtly different, adding dynamic seasonal interest and attracting pollinators.

This Dahlia prefers fertile, moist yet well‑drained soil and performs best in full sun or a lightly sheltered position that receives plenty of light. Sturdy stems support its generously proportioned heads - typically 7-8 cm across - making it well suited to both garden beds and containers, and an excellent choice for cut‑flower bouquets as well as permanent border structure.

For planting synergy, pair ‘Double Jill’ with airy, sun‑loving companions such as Cosmos or Zinnia - both enjoy similar light and soil conditions and will contribute contrasting textures and complementary colour through the summer into autumn.

Growing at a glance…

Dahlia tubers can be planted outdoors, 10cm deep in fertile well-drained soil in spring when the frost has disappeared. They prefer to be in a sunny location and spaced at approximately 45cm apart. In areas where there is extreme cold, dig up dahlias and store in potting compost over the winter. Apply a high potash fertiliser every few weeks in the summer to help growth. Dead head when necessary.
