Product Description

Dahlia ‘Ferncliff Inspiration’ stands out with serene lavender blooms, each petal gently folded to give the flower subtle depth and a soft, sculpted look. The large, informal decorative heads are held on tall, upright stems, creating a light, effortless presence above the fresh green foliage.

Reaching around a metre in height, this cultivar flowers from midsummer into early autumn, bringing a cool, luminous tone to the late-season display. It performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, reflecting the general growing preferences of decorative Dahlias as outlined by the RHS.

Its muted pastel colouring works beautifully alongside deeper purples, dusky pinks and silver-toned foliage, and contrasts well with airy grasses or late-flowering perennials. A favourite amongst gardeners for its calm elegance and adaptability, ‘Ferncliff Inspiration’ suits both contemporary borders and softer, cottage-style plantings.

Growing at a glance…

Dahlia tubers can be planted outdoors, 10cm deep in fertile well-drained soil in spring when the frost has disappeared. They prefer to be in a sunny location and spaced at approximately 45cm apart. In areas where there is extreme cold, dig up dahlias and store in potting compost over the winter. Apply a high potash fertiliser every few weeks in the summer to help growth. Dead head when necessary.
