Product Description

‘Rancho’ is a vibrant waterlily-type Dahlia with upright stems reaching around 100 cm and a spread of 60 cm. Its lush green foliage frames fully double, open-faced blooms 10-15 cm across, glowing in shades of orange, apricot and yellow, often with a soft copper blush. The layered petals give a sculptural, eye-catching quality that works beautifully in borders or as a focal point.

Flowering from July through October, ‘Rancho’ offers a long-lasting display of bold, warm blooms that are excellent for cut flowers and attract butterflies, adding both colour and wildlife interest to the garden.

Tuberous and half-hardy, it thrives in sunny, well-drained soil and benefits from winter protection in cooler areas. Its fiery tones harmonise with purples, blues or mauves in mixed borders, creating vibrant late-season displays. Dahlia ‘Rancho’ balances structure, colour and pollinator appeal, making it a standout choice for any garden.

Growing at a glance…

Dahlia tubers can be planted outdoors, 10cm deep in fertile well-drained soil in spring when the frost has disappeared. They prefer to be in a sunny location and spaced at approximately 45cm apart. In areas where there is extreme cold, dig up dahlias and store in potting compost over the winter. Apply a high potash fertiliser every few weeks in the summer to help growth. Dead head when necessary.
