Growing Salad

0:00 hi my name is Hannah and I work for J
0:01 Parkers today I'm going to show you how
0:03 to sow salads and so I've got rocket
0:06 Versa carrier to show you today and so
0:09 it comes in one of these packets and I'm
0:12 going to use a seed and cutting compost
0:13 and a seed tray they're quite small
0:16 seeds
0:17 um so I'll just show you how to sew them
0:19 but you just sew them thinly on the
0:21 surface
0:23 so I'll just fill this up with some
0:24 compost okay so with most salad seeds
0:28 they are quite small and so I'll just
0:30 show you what they look like
0:32 so they're quite small so what you want
0:35 to do with these is just sprinkle them
0:37 lightly over the surface
0:40 so there's quite a few seeds in there
0:42 now so I'm just going to cover that with
0:44 a light covering of going fast
0:48 and then for this I'm going to water
0:49 them below from below and so I'll put
0:51 these in a in a tray filled with water
0:54 and just to wash them from below because
0:57 they're quite small you don't want them
0:59 to as I said before get sucked too far
1:01 deep into the soil because otherwise
1:03 they won't they won't germinate and then
1:06 with this you can put a propagator lid
1:09 on it or just put it on a warm
1:10 windowsill and then they should start
1:11 germinating shortly and then you can
1:13 pinch them out as they come through to
1:16 allow some of them to get a little bit
1:17 bigger and then pop them on and then you
1:20 should have some nice salad leaves
