Product Description

This pair of low-growing Japanese Maples have gorgeous, finely cut leaves that change colour in autumn. They are fully hardy even in the coldest winters when they loose their leaves in winter, only to burst with incredible colours in spring. Their ultimate height is 1.2 - 1.5m with a spread of 2m reached after ten years. These must have ornamental garden trees will provide excellent shelter for wildlife when planted near a pond. Synonymous with the highly artistic oriental garden cultivated in Japan, these are ideal for patio containers or as specimens in the border as their roots are compact and non-invasive. Will perform best in a sheltered, partially shaded area. This collection contains one each of Acer palmatum Dissectum (green) and Acer palmatum Dissectum Garnet (red). 20-25cm plants supplied in 2 litre pots.

Growing at a glance…

Acers should be watered on a regular basis, which will be even more important in hot Summers. Although its not necessary, you can prune back or cut dead wood in Spring. Plant in fertile, well drained and moist soil. Acer shrubs prefer sunny or partial shaded areas, and can also be grown in pots. If growing in pots make sure that the pot is large enough to support the shrub and that it also has plenty of drainage holes. Use John Innes compost if planting in pots.
