A fabulous and popular perennial, Dicentra Spectabilis, also known as 'bleeding heart', produces vivid heart-shaped pink and white flowers that arch amongst deep green fern-like foliage. Holder of an Award of Garden Merit by the RHS, it is a reliable perennial that has a good resistance to pests and diseases, making this an ideal choice for adding a flourish of brilliant colour to patio containers or garden borders. They will also make wonderful floral arrangements, bringing this eye-catching flower into the home to be enjoyed. Flowering from April to June, they will reach a height of 60-65cm and prefer to be grown in sheltered, partially shaded locations, although can also tolerate sunny areas. Take some precautions to deter slugs as they may cause some leaf damage to young dicentra.Plant out as soon as possible. Plant in well dug prepared soil. Plant as ground cover in the border, in a rockery or cascading over a wall.
