A complete Orchid Fruit collection, these fantastic varieties are all self-fertile and so an abundance of fruit is guaranteed within the autumn garden. Preferring to be planted in sunny areas of the garden, in well-drained, fertile soil these wonderful trees will thrive and reach a mature height of up to four metres. Each tree will provide a show of white blossom from the beginning of spring and persist to develop tasty fruit ready for picking from late September. Within the collection you will receive one each of the following varieties: James Grieves, (an excellent hardy early harvest apple - grafted onto dwarf root stock M26), Conference Pear (RHS Award winning Pear with a terrific long storage life - grafted on to semi dwarf root stock, Quince A), Stella Cherry (RHS award winning black cherry, sweet and delicious - grafted onto dwarf Colt root stock) and Victoria Plum (the most popular variety around, great as desert fruit or for cooking and grafted onto St Julien root stock). Two-year-old field grown trees, supplied bare rooted.

Pruning

Late Winter/Early Spring

Fruit trees are suitable for planting in most types of moderately fertile, well drained soil, although they do not like acid soil. If possible prepare the ground some time in advance of planting. Open out holes and plant with enough space to accommo accommodate the roots without cramping them. Plant in a sunny location as they do not prosper too well in the shade. Make sure that you plant with a stake, as this will be needed for at least five years to help support the tree.
Young trees must be watered thoroughly and sprinkle with fertilizer each spring. You can also mulch in April with rotted manure or compost around the base of the trunk. They should be planted in well sheltered locations. They will blossom and flower in Spring and fruit is normally ready to be picked throughout Autumn. All are self fertile.
