Growing at a glance…
Prepare your Asparagus beds in advance, and incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve soil structure and fertility. On cold, wet soils the addition of sharp sand or grit will help to improve drainage. Water on a regular basis during hot spells, to ensure they don't dry out. Weed beds by hand as the shallow roots could get damaged by hoeing. Feed with a general fertiliser at the end of March. In autumn cut back the yellowing foliage.
