Product Description

Asparagus ‘Erasmus’ is the first all-male F1 hybrid purple asparagus, with exceptionally high yields, this vigorous variety produces thick, dark purple spears. This asparagus variety can reach around 100–150 cm in height and a spread of approximately 45–60 cm, thriving best in well-drained, fertile soil and full sun.

This variety is known for its exceptional colour, tenderness and productivity and its sweeter more tender texture than typical green varieties.

Growing at a glance…

Prepare your Asparagus beds in advance, and incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve soil structure and fertility. On cold, wet soils the addition of sharp sand or grit will help to improve drainage. Water on a regular basis during hot spells, to ensure they don't dry out. Weed beds by hand as the shallow roots could get damaged by hoeing. Feed with a general fertiliser at the end of March. In autumn cut back the yellowing foliage.
