Product Description

Brightening the autumn border, our Aster novi‑belgii White features crisp, pure-white daisy-like flowers, each highlighted by a subtle greenish-yellow disc. The blooms sit atop stiff, upright branching stems rising from a tidy mound of glossy, dark-green lance-shaped foliage.

Flowering from late summer through mid-autumn, it provides sustained elegance as other plants begin to fade.

This Aster variety prefers a sunny or lightly shaded spot and thrives in fertile, moist yet well-drained soils. It forms a clump reaching about 90 cm tall with a spread of around 30 cm, making it a substantial yet refined addition to mid-border plantings or cottage-style gardens.

For a harmonious late-season display, we recommend pairing this classic Michaelmas daisy with Rudbeckias, pale pink Sedums or fine ornamental grasses. These companions help highlight its pure white blooms while attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Planting Notes

Soil Type Well drained moderately fertile soil

Growing at a glance…

Plant in dappled or partially shaded areas in the garden. Can be grown in containers, but should be spaced out well so that they don't fall victim to powdery mildew. If planting out into its final position, dig a hole that holds the root and cover with soil. If it has a noticeable crown, leave this just slightly poking through the soil. Water well through the season and deadhead regularly to keep them looking fresh!
