They are very robust and can be planted free standing. They can create an attractive boundary within a working fruit and vegetable garden. Water liberally during dry spells. Prune any time between October and March.They can be planted in fertile and well drained soil outdoors in a sunny, yet sheltered position. The soil should be rich in manure and compost.
