Product Description

Gladiolus nanus ‘The Bride’ brings a refined grace to borders, patio pots and containers. Its pure white, funnel‑shaped flowers are accented with soft yellow on the lower petals for serene, luminous appeal. ‘The Bride’ reaches up to around 60 cm with a spread of 15 cm - delivering a sequence of blooms that captivate without overwhelming surrounding planting.

Flowering from May into July, ‘The Bride’ forms a neat, upright habit in full sun with well‑drained, fertile soil. Its clean, architectural form and clear white blooms make it particularly effective in the front or middle of beds, where the subtle yellow‑marked petals stand out against deeper foliage tones and extend the seasonal display.

The crisp white and soft yellow patterning pairs beautifully with cool blues and lilacs for elegant contrast, or with gentle pastels for a softer, harmonious scheme. Nepeta, Lavender and light Asters really complement ‘The Bride’ in airy mixed borders, while low‑growing grasses and perennials help emphasise both vertical form and textural interest through the season.

Growing at a glance…

Plant gladioli about 10-15cm deep and about 10-15cm apart, in fertile/well drained soil in autumn or spring. When planting in a heavy soil, place some sand underneath each corm to help with drainage. You can water regularly as the growth begins to appear and you can dead head when flowers begin to die off, though make sure to leave foliage to grow throughout the summer. In late autumn when frosty and cold nights are likely to return, you should lift and dry the corms and store over the winter in a frost free shed/garage until ready to plant again next year.
