Product Description

Chives Cipollina, also known as Allium schoenoprasum, is an ever-popular culinary herb that will be a perfect addition to your gardens. Its grassy leaves provide a perfect stem for what will eventually hold a pretty ball-shaped bloom in lavender pink! Can be used in any dish, whether it's a salad, soup, or even a casserole. Sow indoors from March to June or outdoors under cover from May to June for harvesting in summer.

Sow thinly in seed trays indoors from March for an early start, covering with an inch of fine compost. Keep the soil moist during germination. Can be sown directly into place outside after all danger of frost has passed. When seedlings are about 5cm high, thin to 10-15cm apart. Can be harvested regularly once mature. To get the best flavour and texture, harvest chives before they flower. Their leaves can also be dried for later use.
