As Seen at Keukenhof - Get the Look
Are you ready for spring? If not, why not aim for a show-stopping display - inspired by the one and only Keukenhof gardens. Our team visited the iconic garden this spring, and we noticed a few stand-out tulip combinations that we just KNEW you'd love to try!
Here are a few of our favourites...
Peaches, Purples, Pinks and Whites
A mix and matching display seemed to be a popular choice this year, and you'll see it a lot in this blog! But this display in particular stood out to us, and it's easy to see why. A gorgeous mixture of pinks, purples, whites and even peaches are grown en-masse - and it's not just tulips either (a sneaky white hyacinth hides in the corner there...)
You can recreate this look with:
- Tulip Lady Van Eijk (Vibrant pink tulip)
- Tulip Apricot Pride (Peachy apricot tulip)
- Tulip Gorilla (Dark maroony-purple tulip)
OR
- Tulip Parrot Prince (Another dark purple option with frilled petals)
- Hyacinth Aiolos (A pure white Hyacinth)
Pinks & Peaches
You wouldn't think two colours so close to each other in the colour wheel would look like the perfect planting partners - yet here we are. A beautiful peachy tulip sitting next to an almost bicoloured pink tulip seems to be a recipe for success!
You can recreate this look with:
- Tulip La Belle Epoque (A light pastel peach tulip with hints of pink)
- Tulip Angelique (A double late tulip in pastel pink and white shades
Psst... the tulips in the image are Tulip Foxtrot and Tulip Foxy Foxtrot, if you're after a like for like recreation.
Warm Sunny Tones
Although there were many other spring bulbs featured at Keukenhof, it wasn't very often that you came across a combo of the two. This sunny bed heavily concentrates on bright yellows and oranges, alongside bright green foliage. If you prefer a cheerful spring flower bed, then this partnership will be right up your street.
You can recreate this look with:
- Narcissus Tete a Tete (Classic yellow cupped daffodil)
- Tulip Orange Princess (A double late tulip that combines orange and green on outer petals)
OR
- Tulip Sunlover (A burnt orange double late tulip, sometimes yellow on outer petals)
Cream Pinks & Sunshine Yellows
A very similar theme to the peach and pink bed, but the yellow is more sunshine yellow than a peachy one. This combo is a for sure mood booster, perfect for growing en-masse (in big groups) within the flower bed, or just in a pot. Or two. Or three!
You can recreate this look with:
- Tulip Blushing Apeldoorn
- Tulip Ollioules
OR
- Tulip Playgirl
A Classic Mixture
If you're after something that is more traditional and varied, then this combo is for you. With a mixture of all your favourite spring bulbs, your bed won't be lacking in colour - that's for sure.
You can recreate this look with:
- Tulip Double Flag
- Tulip Mount Tacoma
- Hyacinth Manhattan
- Tulip Candela
- Hyacinth Miss Saigon
- Daffodil Tete a Tete
- Narcissus Sweet Love
Blue Muscari Hues With Vibrant Red Tulips
Or, if you're after a varied display but on a smaller scale, then this mixture of Tulip Hermitage and Muscari will be a winner. Although they're not neighbours on the colour wheel, they are distant cousins - which makes for a perfect colour combination.
You can recreate this look with:
- Tulip Hermitage
- Muscari Armeniacum
